New Classroom Environment Instrument

During the 1990s I developed a classroom environment instrument based on a well accepted instrument, the Classroom Environment Scale (CES), developed by Rudolph Moos and Edison Trickett (1974) with a group-work scale added from the Classroom Interaction Patterns Questionnaire (CIPQ) developed by Woods (1995). The instrument was developed to assist in classroom-based research into computer supported learning. The instrument deliberately does not include references to computers, nor does it directly measure anything to do with computers. The purpose of the instrument is to provide a means of classifying major aspects the classroom learning environment so that the impact of computer support may be investigated, particularly for person-environment fit studies.
