Jarryd - Doom, Melancholic, Electronic
Hello,
My name is Jarryd aka Theodore, I am a composer who is proficient in guitar, vocals and anything else that needs to be played. Ive been playing for several years and composing for almost all of that time.
Most of my early compositions were based around the metal scene, with projects ranging from Symphonic Technical Progressive Metal, to Funeral Doom Metal to Industrial. Lately I have been experimenting more with an electronic feel, having recently gained the access to high quality programs and resources. In the last few years I’ve been a bit more experimental with my music creating electronic soundscapes and neo-folk (acoustic) music.
The style I work on most at the moment is doom, in any genre, any style, so long as it is trying to express true inner grieving. This gives me the freedom to write short 2 minute acoustic pieces, to 77 minute monolithic metal pieces.
A short segment from an Industrial Symphonic Doom piece.

My favourite style is still that which deals with extreme amounts of emotion in the attempt to engulf the listener in a divine macro cosmic majesty of unparalleled proportions hopefully leaving them in awe of the emotions that have been cultivated from the astral dimension. This inevitably led to the writing of, and a rapport with, atmospheric industrial doom which follows paths of inspiration in a world of sci-fi fantasy. By integrating synths (analog and digital) and orchestral instruments I was able to take the listener on a journey through their mind without using words at all.
Below is a snippet from a Sci-Fi Atmospheric Piece, the full song is a 15 minute journey of a sniper fulfilling his mission.
Along with this, I have branched into the Neo-Folk scene, of which large proportions of the artists stemmed from the Post Punk Industrial scene. This incredibly diverse genre has its roots as far back as the 60’s and still grows in originality and genius to this day. The style itself is typically acoustically based, relying on acoustic guitars, flutes and various other woodwinds, combined with the variety of male and female vocals and the lyrics based on beauty of the natural world, this genre is for those who wish to find serenity and tranquility in their music listening.
As you may have noticed, I am influenced by a varied range of genres, most of which aren’t heard as often as others. The following is an experimental song where I used a short guitar track (just a few powerchords) to create an almost haunting song.
Here is an acoustic tracks, it’s fairly lengthy (8 minutes) but that’s only to extend its meaning.
In more recent times, my ventures into the relatively unknown world of electronic music (as compared to the popular dance/house/trance etc) have been rather successful. I have found new ways to express doom without using conventional instruments or notation. This combined with the theoretical and textural style from the romantic era and early 20th century allows one to use electronic sounds in a very expressive way, it just depends on whether a person is willing to listen. The link below as an example of the more extreme side of electronic composition I’m currently developing.
As most of my music tends to be rather long, I feel this blog can in no way accurately depict the style of music. There are some more recent works stored at http://www.4shared.com/dir

Hi
I’m directing one of the WAAPA films for screen Academy. I’d like to talk to you about our script and if you might be interested in working on it.
We’re looking for some slightly alternative hip hop and, I think, some alternative rock, but happy to take suggestion on that.
Thanks
Ngaire

Hi Theodore. A group of ECU students and I are working on an Alice In Wonderlandesque short film and was wondering if you would be interested in scoring for it? We begin shooting this week, its a five minute piece and final submission is Monday Week 14. If you’re interested i could email you the script.
Thanks
Shannon
