Casey Chan - Game Music, Classical, Beats, Melodic-Electronic

BIO

untitled.jpgMy name is Casey Chan and I’m a second year Composition student at the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts. I have studied Classical music in Perth since I was eight years old. I have been playing Piano for over nine years completing study for 8th Grade Piano and I have also been playing the Clarinet for over six years, which I took for TEE Music in 2006-07. Since then, I have now explored into the field of Composition and I have been composing all sorts of music with software such as NoteWorthy, Sibellius and Logic Pro, including orchestral works, arrangements, chamber music, and quite recently, electronic music and video game music. I hope to work as a freelance musician and composer for film, video game music, advertisements music theater, and other collaborations. My other interests include singing, where I have been a part of some fantastic chamber choirs such as Schola Cantori and I am now continuing at WAAPA with another exciting choir called Eneksis. So if you are looking for a musician or need someone to provide your music, please feel free to listen to some of my samples below, and let me know if you’re interested. This is a random hip-hop beat I put together one day. It sounds a lot like something you would hear while watching the “Samurai Champloo” anime series. It doesn’t seem like it’s finished, but I don’t really know what else to do with it. Still..you should listen to it anyway!

Shadow Rock - A remix of ‘Shadow’s Theme’ originally from the SNES game: Final Fantasy VI.

This work takes various sounds from a sample of a five-minute journey on an electric train. It also takes other particular train noises and melds them with a hip-hop kit to form a simple drum and bass track.

This is a piece made up entirely of loops on Logic Pro. Something I put together one afternoon when I discovered a cool “game sound” while playing around on Logic.

This is a Wind Quartet I wrote at Waapa last year featuring Flute, Oboe, Clarinet and Bassoon. (Excuse the dodgy-sounding midi instruments)
